hg0088线上网址Tuition and fees at The New School as published will often differ form a student's net costs after financial aid and merit scholarships have been awarded. The New School encourages all students to apply for aid to maximize their funding potential. (Note: Scholarship award amounts are reflected in the offer of admission; admitted students are not mailed a separate scholarship letter. Students can log into the to view both the acceptance letter and the financial aid award.)

    Choosing Financing

hg0088线上网址We understand that attending college involves a major financial investment. We are committed to working with you to help make a university education possible. There are a host of avenues students can pursue to finance their education, and many forms of aid can be combined to meet students' needs.

hg0088线上网址All undergraduate applicants (including international students) are considered for scholarship on the basis of academic merit and/or artistic ability. There is no need to fill out a separate application for these scholarships, as we automatically evaluate students upon admittance. Test scores shared as part of the application for admission will also be included in the merit scholarship review.

In addition, we strongly encourage students to apply for scholarships with organizations outside of The New School. The Office of Financial Aid maintains a regularly updated list of external scholarship opportunities on their website.

Only undergraduate students can receive federal need-based grants. If the U.S. Department of Education deems a student eligible after reviewing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), it will award the student either a Pell Grant or a Pell Grant and a Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant. Students do not have to pay back any grant money they receive. In addition to federal grants, New York State residents may be eligible for additional grant aid from the state government.

Loans serve as an additional form of funding to supplement scholarships and grants. U.S. citizens and legal residents are eligible to participate in low interest student loan programs offered by the U.S. Department of Education. If students do not qualify for federal loans programs or if federal loans don’t cover their total costs, students can seek loans from private lenders.

    Work Study

Eligible FAFSA filers are considered for federal work studyhg0088线上网址 to help cover their attendance costs. Total work study awards are based on personal financial need and the amount of work study funds available, which can vary from year to year.

    Applying for Aid

U.S. citizens and residents who wish to receive need-based aid must first complete the FAFSA. The FAFSA determines students’ eligibility for federal and state grants, federal loans, and work study. The form must be completed every year students wish to receive financial aid.

Students can find and file the FAFSA online at . The school code for The New School is 002780.

    • New students entering in the fall semester must complete the form between October 1 and June 30, with a priority deadline of February 1.
    • New students entering in the spring semester must complete the form with a priority deadline of November 1.

Once students complete the FAFSA and include The New School code, information on their eligibility for federal and state grants, federal loans, and work study will be delivered to The New School. We will then deduct any awarded aid from total tuition costs.

In addition to applying for need-based aid, all students admitted to The New School are automatically considered for scholarships on the basis of academic merit and/or artistic ability when they apply for admission. There is no need to fill out a separate application for New School merit-based scholarships. Scholarship award letters are usually included in student acceptance letters. Scholarship amounts will be deducted from a student’s total tuition costs.
